Wildkats blank Valkyries in conference opener
COLUMBIA FALLS — Cheyanne Johnston-Heinz scored a hat trick for the Columbia Falls Wildcats in a 6-0 romp over the visiting Bigfork Valkyries in Northwest A soccer.
Johnston-Heinz added an assist to her three goals. Hope McAtee scored a goal and had two assists.
“As a collective, the team came out and competed at a high level and played a great game against a team and a program that continues to improve in the conference,” Wildkats coach Thomas Clark said. “The fact that every single game we’ve got different players scoring — sharing the ball and really trusting the offense to find open players, is a really compelling thing to see.”
Clark also complimented the play of Alexis Green and Sydney Mann.
Keeper Zoey Byrd made five saves in the shutout.
Maddie Robison and Morgan McAleavey rounded out the scoring for Columbia Falls, who improves to 3-1 overall and 1-0 in conference.
Bigfork is 2-2 and 0-1.

COLUMBIA FALLS — Five different players scored for the Columbia Falls Wildcats in a 10-2 conference game against the visiting Bigfork Vikings.
Max Everett and Findley Sundberg each scored two goals for the balanced Wildcats (3-0-1, 1-0), who have worked on finishing their chances over the first few weeks of the season.
“We are becoming more and more dangerous in front of the goal,” coach O’Brien Byrd said. “Just the fact that you see so many different goal scorers ...That’s going to be a common pattern. We’re not a one-dimensional team, we’re not counting on one guy — we’ve got four or five guys that can score any given game.”
Dale Blickhan added three assists and a goal for Columbia Falls.
Bigfork’s scorers were Asa Barrett and Levi Peterson.
