Kalispell man dies in crash near Whitefish
A 49-year-old Kalispell man died in a two-vehicle traffic crash last week near Whitefish.
According to Montana Highway Patrol, a 40-year-old man from Weaverville, California, was driving a Lexus SUV north on U.S. 93 at 7:50 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 4.
For unknown reasons, the Lexus crossed into the northbound lane and struck a Dodge Truck, driven by the Kalispell man, head-on despite his efforts to avoid the crash.
The Kalispell man, who wasn’t wearing a seat belt, was taken to Logan Health where he died of his injuries.
The California man, who was wearing a seat belt, was also taken to Logan Health for treatment of his injuries.
Trooper Laramie Stefani reported drugs and alcohol were suspected factors in the fatal crash.
