Columbia Falls soccer scores wins over Stevi

STEVENSVILLE — The Columbia Falls Wildcats dealt Stevensville its first loss of the season on Saturday in a 2-0 non-conference Class A soccer win.

Columbia Falls held a one-goal lead through the first half off Findley Sundberg’s goal in the 6th minute, assisted by Kai Golan. Golan found the back of the net in the 45th minute and the Wildcats held up the 2-0 lead.

“We played well enough to get the win,” coach O’Brien Byrd said. “Stevi really impressed us. We had to just hold on to the edge of that pressure and stick with the game plan and we eked out a win.”

Bryce Dunham made six saves in the shutout.

The Wildcats are 4-0-1 overall and 1-0 in conference. They face Whitefish Tuesday on their home field.

CORVALLIS — Luke Sangster scored four goals for the Corvallis Blue Devils in a 5-0 win over the Bigfork Vikings Saturday.

Bigfork falls to 1-3 overall and is 1-0 in conference play.

The Blue Devils are 1-3 and 1-0.

STEVENSVILLE — Maddie Robison scored two goals for the Wildkats in a 4-0 non-conference win over Stevensville, the Yellowjackets’ first loss of the season.

The Wildkats are 4-0 overall and 1-0 in Northwest A.

Cheyanne Johnston-Heinz and Sydney Mann each scored and had an assist.

“Throughout the season we’ve been able to play two undefeated teams, that’s a benefit for us to have that competition,” coach Thomas Clark said. “Nevaeh Carlin started the game today and had the game of her life, proud of how she played defensively.”

Columbia Falls plays Whitefish, also undefeated, Tuesday at 5 p.m.

CORVALLIS — Bigfork scored three goals in the second half to take home a 3-2 win over Corvallis on Saturday.

Brette Guenzler, Madison Chappius and Scout Nadeau scored for the Valkyries, who improved to 3-2 overall (0-1 conference).

Goalkeeper Catherine Panor made seven saves. Bigfork outshot Corvallis 34-9.
