Wolfpack Theatre stages laugh-out-loud comedy
The Golden Girls meet the Mafia in the dark and clever comedy “B.A.T.S.” presented by the Wolfpack Theatre Company Sept. 27, 28 and 29. Curtain time is 6:33 p.m. in the Wolfpack Theatre at Glacier High School.
Tickets are available at the GHS main office and Photo Video Plus and are $7 for adults and $5 for children, students and senior citizens. Any remaining tickets will also be sold at the door.
Mafia boss Angelo Baroni is dead, and his two widows … yes … two widows, Gina and Maria, discover each other’s existence at his court hearing. After the initial shock, they decide to join forces and take over the Baroni Assistance & Transfer Service that specializes in “assisting people to die,” by bumping them off and then transferring them to secret graves in a nearby cemetery. The pair soon face a distressing setback as the cemetery’s new owner is about to dig up and relocate its corpses, along with Angelo's family secrets.
“These two ladies clean up organized crime in Chicago by getting into the business themselves!” said the show’s director, and director of the Wolfpack Theatre Company, Ivanna Fritz. “When their plan is jeopardized, they team up with a cast of quirky characters to fight for their way of life. To start the year, I thought we just needed to be entertained and laugh a little. This isn't one of those ‘thinking’ plays, it's one that allows you to sit back and let your worries go a bit, relax, and have a fun night.”
Written by Jerome McDonough, with a cast full of free-spirited and slightly batty characters, a plot full of hilarious comedy, and an abundance of shoulder pads, support hose and hairspray, “B.A.T.S.” comes off as a 1980s sitcom.
“B.A.T.S.” is the first production for the Wolfpack Theatre Company’s 2021-2022 season and rehearsals began even before school started.
The cast includes Bella AuClaire, Kaelin Holt, Derek Smith, Alden Lamson, Kelsea Bemis, Avram Bingham, Bryce Crane, Brenna Ernst, Elise Plum, Elle Plum, Morgan Pitts and features Alexa Wilton and Fionna Fuller as the brazen mafia widows.
The technical crew includes Lane McKoy, Jaiden Mallo, Erik Kalvig, Toben Mallo, Drew Crane, Quinn Thomas, Bridgett Meskis, Ella Thomas and Zach Lapke.
