More details emerge in Columbia Falls stabbing incident
More details have emerged in a Columbia Falls stabbing incident that happened earlier this month.
According to charging documents filed in Flathead County District Court, Kenneth William Goldsberry, 31, of Columbia Falls, on Sept. 9 allegedly stabbed his roommate at a Martha Road apartment with a steak knife.
When police arrived, the victim had a laceration to his neck and cheek. He was transported to the hospital for his injuries. The victim was with two other people in the apartment, including his girlfriend and another friend.
According to the police report, the victim and his girlfriend were upstairs when the other friend came into the house. According to the friend, Goldsberry, who was downstairs, allegedly told him he was going to stab both the victim and his girlfriend.
All four allegedly had been drinking. The friend tried to calm down Goldsberry, but he allegedly stabbed the victim while the two were in the kitchen.
The three people ran out of the residence to get away from Goldsberry. He was found by police hiding in a shed in the front of the building, after the parties told police where he was.
Goldsberry told police he couldn’t remember any of the incident.
He was charged with felony assault with a weapon. Police initially were going to charge him with attempted deliberate homicide.
Goldsberry posted a $50,000 bond and has been released from jail, according to court records. He faces a maximum term of 20 years in the Montana State Prison.
Officer Jared Haddenham and Det. Gary Denham investigated the incident for the Columbia Falls Police.
