Mizutani presents Opus 4 in The Lord of the Strings concert series Saturday

World-renowned violinist Wai Mizutani presents Opus 4 of The Lord of the Strings concert series with ”Dancing Through The Decades” Saturday, April 30, at the O’Shaughnessy Center in Whitefish. The concert features special guest and accomplished pianist Jordan Neiman and the Lakeside Dance Studio.

The concert begins at 6:30 p.m. Doors open at 6 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults, and $10 for seniors and children 11 and older. Tickets are free for children under 10, veterans and active duty military. Tickets may be purchased in advance at impactwsce.com or eventbrite.com. Port Polson Players stage final weekend of comedy classic

The Port Polson Players, in association with Mission Valley Friends of the Arts, present the final weekend of the comedy classic “The Curious Savage” at Polson’s Theatre on the Lake.

Curtain time Friday and Saturday is 7:30 p.m, with a Sunday matinee at 2 p.m.

“The Curious Savage has a simple message that will warm hearts with humor, yet remind us all of what is truly important,” director Karen Lewing said. “It’s a true honor to be working with a cast of 11 veteran Port Polson Players to celebrate the opening of our 47th year.”

ATP Kids presents ‘RENT — The School Edition’

Alpine Theatre Project’s ATP Kids program brings to the stage the Pulitzer Prize winning musical phenomenon “Rent — The School Edition” at the Whitefish Performing Arts Center, 127 Spokane Ave., in Whitefish.

Set in the East Village of New York City, and loosely based on Puccini's “La Boheme,” “RENT — The School Edition” is about falling in love, finding your voice, and living for today. Winner of the Tony Award for Best Musical and the Pulitzer Prize for Drama, it has become a pop cultural phenomenon with songs that rock and a story that resonates with audiences of all ages.

Performances will be at 7 p.m. Friday, April 29, and Saturday, April 30; and at 4 p.m. Sunday, May 1.

Hockaday art scholarship applications available

The Hockaday announces the second year of the Mark D. Norley Memorial Scholarship for Visual Arts for a graduating high school senior art student from Flathead, Lake, Lincoln, Sanders or Glacier counties. Students from public, private or home schools are eligible to apply. Named in honor of one of the Hockaday’s most valued volunteers and supporters, Mark Norley who died in late 2020, this $1,000 scholarship recognizes an outstanding art student in any visual art medium including painting, drawing, photography, printmaking, three-D design, ceramics, illustration, graphic design, film/video, or costume/fashion. The application deadline is May 2.
