Eureka Community Players take up residence in ‘Almost, Maine’
The Eureka Community Players present the family-friendly “Almost, Maine” by John Cariani Friday and Saturday, April 29 and 30, at 7 p.m.; with a matinee at 3 p.m. Sunday, May 1. All performances are at the Timbers Event Center (Eureka Community Hall).
Welcome to Almost, Maine, a place that’s so far north, it’s almost not in the United States. It’s almost in Canada. And it’s not quite a town, because its residents never got around to getting organized. So it almost doesn’t exist. One cold, clear, winter night, as the northern lights hover above, the residents of Almost, Maine, find themselves falling in and out of love in unexpected and hilarious ways. Knees are bruised. Hearts broken. But the bruises heal, and the hearts mend — almost — in this delightful midwinter night’s dream.
Playing multiple roles in this fun, witty, sweet play are Andy Hanson, Chris Beemer, Danica Cate, Hunter Carvey, Caitlin Studevant, and Christina Mariposa.
Directed by Kelley Comstock, “Almost, Maine” will be a fun addition to the Eureka Rendezvous weekend. According to the New York Post, “Almost, Maine” is somewhere between Norman Rockwell and “Our Town.”
Tickets for the shows are $8 and are available at the door.
