Registration opens for CNA course at FVCC
The Certified Nursing Assistant course at Flathead Valley Community College is currently open for registration.
The CNA course at FVCC provides high-level training for students interested in going into the nursing profession. Many nurses start as CNAs before progressing into other educational tracks for nursing.
Information and the registration packet can be accessed on the fvcc.edu website at fvcc.edu/cna.
Interested students can also pick up a hard copy packet at the FVCC Nursing Department office located in the Rebecca Cheney Broussard Center on the FVCC campus in Kalispell. Fall CNA classes start on Aug. 31.
The course runs for one semester and provides five college credits.
“Many nursing and health care undergraduate programs require CNA training to apply, and some programs give extra points in the application process for CNA training. This makes the CNA program a great first step for anyone interested in health care professions,” says Pam Klein, CNA Coordinator.
Klein adds that most nursing homes and hospitals in the Flathead Valley and across the state and nation are hiring CNAs.
“As a CNA, you can work in any location, at almost any clinic you want to,” Klein said.
Individuals interested in taking the Certified Nursing Assistant course at FVCC for the upcoming fall semester must complete a background check and provide documentation of several immunizations and tests, which can take additional time.
Faculty recommend students get started early to provide enough time for the application and registration process.
