Law roundup: Roommate’s delusions cause for concern

A resident worried about her roommate’s behavior contacted the Columbia Falls Police Department after he began hallucinating.

The woman told officers that the man had a history of drug abuse and had undergone treatment for alcohol and dust cleaner use. Now he was in the garage, because he thought people were watching him. Earlier, he was talking about how there were people trying to set up an economy in the backyard. She believed he might be using inhalants again. She told officers that she had since left the home.

Someone knocked down several fences on Scenic Drive. The resident who reported it said it occurred overnight. From their vantage point, they could see that the vandals also struck the neighbor’s fence.

Officers received a tip about possible abuse occurring in or around Columbia Falls, but the caller offered only vague information.

Someone contacted the police after a man got in a fight with their daughter, though she apparently punched him and left him with a bloody face.

A resident asked officers to come out to look at his fence after he watched an unusual scene play out right before his eyes. The man said a vehicle pulled up to his property and a kid jumped out and ran straight through it. Despite the incursion, the man said the fence appeared undamaged. He chalked it up to TikTok’s Kool-Aid Man challenge.

Officers responded to a report of a group of kids hanging out in a parking lot about 11 p.m. The juveniles were soon headed home.

Police stickered a pair of campers on Rapids Avenue.

Officers running an extra patrol by the high school discovered an open door at the building. The door was secured and everything seemed OK.

A swerving Buick sedan prompted another motorist to contact authorities. They said the four-door almost hit their vehicle head on and then nearly struck a curb.

Dispatchers reported receiving a phone call from the payphone located in the police department’s lobby. They disconnected the call after it became clear the caller did not need help from first responders.

A man reportedly was jumping in front of vehicles.

Officers headed to a local watering hole for a report of a woman hassling a man at the bar. According to the caller, she was slandering him and being generally disruptive. She left before officers arrived.

Someone ran into a Riparian Drive homeowner’s fence the night prior about midnight.
