Vibrant downtown

Keeping the downtown viable is a challenge in this age of mega-box stores. In August 2020, I heard an idea on CBC radio that may be of interest to our community. I submitted it to the Kalispell City Council for their consideration.

Businesses seeking permission to open stores on the outskirts of town are required to have a satellite store in the city center.

While in Kalispell’s situation many chain stores have already opened stores north of town that have drained customers away from the downtown city center. That situation adds to the highway congestion we all experience during mornings, noon and at the end of the work day.
