| August 31, 2022 12:00 AM

James Albert “Jim” Goeddertz, 79, of St. George, Utah, passed away on Aug. 23, 2022, from complications of Parkinson’s disease.

Jim was born Nov. 25, 1942, in Conrad, Montana. He was raised on a cattle and sheep ranch in Kevin, Montana. His growing up years were filled with work, but also many fun times. He told stories about sitting inside the old cookhouse and shooting gophers through the screen door and about the big muley bucks he used to shoot. After high school, Jim entered the Navy and served his country.

Following his military service, Jim moved back home, eventually settling in the Flathead Valley. He married Barbara (Norton) Wolf on Dec. 23, 1976. After a couple of “jobs,” he finally found his career. He was a born salesman. He sold cars for most of his working life.

After his three oldest children had graduated high school, and a wonderful vacation to Maui, Hawaii, Jim and Barb decided to make Maui their new home. They lived on Maui for 18 years until retirement. They wanted to move closer to family and settled on St. George, Utah, where they lived for the last 16 years.

Jim loved to golf and would spend as much time as he could playing golf. In his later years, when he was no longer able to golf, he would watch it on TV. He loved football and was a Seahawks fan for several years, but due to the prompting of his son, Greg, he became a die-hard Packers fan. He also liked “Wheel of Fortune,” “Family Feud” and “Jeopardy,” but his favorite game show was “The Price is Right.” He loved to hear about the lives of his children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Jim was preceded in death by his son Tim, parents Albert “Bus” and Edna Goeddertz; sister, Garnet Foster; and nephew, Dale Alcorn.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; children, Nancy Clarke (Ron), Heidi Wolf (Ian), and Greg Wolf; grandchildren, Brandy Woods (Tony), Desiree Miller (Ben), David Clarke (Natalie), Tatiana Baker (Brendan), Logan Emerson and Kayla Wolf; and great-grandchildren, Braylee and Reagan Woods, McKinley and Madi Miller and Penelope Baker. He is also survived by his niece and nephew, Barbara Alcorn and Dean Alcorn (Tracy), brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law and numerous cousins.

Services will be held on Friday, Sept. 2, at 2 p.m. at Buffalo Hill Funeral Home with burial at Glacier Memorial Gardens. A reception will follow at The Springs in Whitefish.
