‘Tubachristmas’ event Dec. 19
Kalispell will host a “Tubachristmas” celebration at 7 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 19. The annual event will feature tuba, euphonium and baritone players playing Christmas carols for the public. The performance will be at the Red Lion ballroom foyer.
“We have been doing a Tubaschristmas celebration in Kalispell for over 25 years. After missing one year because of Covid-19, we are happy to be back with this wonderful event,” said director Allen Slater. “If you have never heard an ensemble like this you are in for a real treat. It will really put that Christmas smile on your face.”
Tubachristmas was established in 1974 by Harvey Phillips to honor his teacher, the world famous Bill Bell, a tuba player who was born on Christmas Day in 1902. The event is held in communities around the world as players gather to share fellowship and play Christmas carols. All “Tubachristmas” concerts are presented with permission from the Harvey Phillips Foundation Inc.
Any tuba or baritone players are welcome to be a part of the celebration. Registration for the performers will be at the Red Lion Ballroom room from 3:15 to 4 p.m. on Monday. Rehearsal will be from 4 p.m. until 5:30 pm. After a break for dinner, the performers will meet at the Red Lion ballroom for the 7 p.m. performance.
