Law roundup: Working at the dog wash is a scream
A man found screaming inside a local dog wash raised enough hackles for the Kalispell Police Department to intervene. Officers were alerted by an employee of the business, who reported hearing the hollering from their office. Given the number of obscenities screamed during the prior half hour, the man’s mouth probably needed a good washing out anyway.
Arriving officers were asked to move the man along. But not before a medical crew was called out to help the man with a toe injury.
On the topic of dogs, officers picked up a small, sick canine found wandering an apartment complex. The animal was vomiting blood and its rescuers worried it suffered from parvovirus. Taken to the county shelter, the dog later tested negative for parvo.

An ex-partner reached out to a woman on Facebook and threatened to hurt both her and their son. He said he hoped she died before he got to her. Officers looked into the matter and saw that she previously was granted a restraining order, but her ex had not yet been served with it. They requested that a deputy follow up on serving the order and in the meantime counseled the woman on pursuing a privacy in communications violation.
Police searched high and low for a man in a wheelchair apparently covered in snow. Multiple callers reported seeing the individual in a traffic lane. Some described him as stuck, but others said he was pushing snow with his feet. Officers were unable to locate him.
The owner of a downtown building passed along second hand information concerning migrants unloading in Kalispell. A tenant first reported the activity to the building owner, describing a vehicle that parks across the street every night. A U-Haul van pulls up and unloads a bunch of people, who get into the waiting vehicle. No one else had reported seeing the group’s comings and goings, but the man suspected they were immigrants here illegally and working construction. Asked why he thought that, the man said because they looked as though they came from south of the border.
Someone reported a boat left parked in the middle of the street. Officers scoured the area, but found no vessels.
A Texan contacted authorities because she was sick of looking at a BMW parked in her neighborhood, which was unsurprisingly located in the Lone Star State, for a week. She described it as likely abandoned. The BMW was unlocked and documents related to the vehicle were on the front seat. It had Montana plates, she told police.
A shoplifter allegedly traded the two women accompanying him to a local store for pairs of shoes. Officers were called to the business after he took off with the footwear. The women left with nothing.
