Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theater holds auditions for next production
The Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theater invites students in grades two to six to audition on Tuesday, Jan. 3, for the cast of “Night At The Wax Museum.”
The play is based loosely on the 2009 Ben Stiller movie with a similar name.
The hysterical meets the historical in this comic romp through the wackiest wax museum in history. School’s out for summer but not for six unlucky students who have to retake history class in summer school. First-year teacher Heather Fairchild has arranged for them to help her two aunts set up a new wax museum as a class project. The students’ eyes glaze over with boredom yet there’s a twinkle in the wax figures’ eyes when a mysterious incantation from the back of Cleopatra’s bracelet brings them to life. King Henry VIII, Cleopatra, Anne Boleyn, Butch Cassidy, Calamity Jane, pirates and more are featured — they all have returned for a reason and are looking for something. Come see how the students survive their first-hand history lesson.
Auditions will be held from 4:30-5:30 p.m. for grades two and three; from 5:30-7:30 p.m. for grades four to six; at the Bigfork Playhouse Children’s Theatre Afterschool Center, 833 Grand Drive on Tuesday, Jan. 3.
Performances will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Jan. 27 and Jan. 28 and Feb. 3 and Feb. 4, with a matinee performance at 2 p.m. on Feb. 5.
The production calls for a large cast of around 40. It costs nothing to audition and only $50 to be a part of the show if cast. Prepare a 30-second monologue or short selection from another play, poem or book (there will be several available at the audition) and plan to learn and sing something for the audition. All levels of experience are welcome and materials at the theater may be provided for less experienced auditioners. Wear comfortable shoes, as auditioners will be moving around the stage. Those auditioning are asked not to sing their audition as a song will be taught to all auditioners during the sessions.
If not interested in stage work but would like to be involved, contact the theater. Also Help is also needed with the technical parts — building sets, props, costumes, lights and sound — parental and student assistance is welcome.
