Law roundup: Man bent out of shape over damaged package
A store owner called the Kalispell Police Department after staff and claimed a man upset about a package damaged during shipping had called the business saying he was on his way there and they should call the police. An officer spoke with both parties. The man told the officer he was not headed to the store and he had said he “would make a scene later if they did not make it right.” He was encouraged to take the claim up with the corporate office, not the local branch.
What allegedly started as a road-rage incident turned into a man in his 20s sending a Facebook message to a woman stating he was “going to knock her teeth out.” She said the man knew her boyfriend.
Someone went to the police department wanting to speak to an officer about a “squirrely situation” involving a transient at the location where they worked.
A skinny man in his late 40s allegedly went to a woman’s door and said he was looking for an escort service. Extra patrol was requested.
A woman went to the police department lobby wanting an officer to talk to her 11-year-old child who was being defiant and refusing to go to school.
A woman posted a vehicle for sale on Facebook and a man who looked at it allegedly sent her inappropriate messages of a sexual nature afterward. Extra patrol was requested.
A transient allegedly built a shelter of stacked pallets, plastic wrap and boxes and had a campfire going off the corner of a store building. The store manager called officers asking for help moving him along after he refused to leave.
Someone allegedly dropped off a brown paper bag containing a car title, three boxes of pistol ammunition and $24 at the front desk of an inn and said they were for a man. Officers were unable to locate a phone number for the man and took the items for safekeeping.
A bank collection officer reported a customer cashed a fraudulent check for $4,633.52 in November.
A bar customer saw a man passed out in a running vehicle so they reportedly turned it off and took the keys and told officers he was not responsive but later saw him moving.
A later call came in about a woman allegedly passed out, with her head on the steering wheel, in a running vehicle parked by a giant snow pile. The caller claimed she was a known meth addict and that may be why she was passed out. The woman was OK and moved along.
A woman wanted to speak to an officer about a “verbal assault” that occurred at a fitness center in December.
A man calling the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office from Marion claimed his wife had been at a bar for three hours so they contacted friends and family members, but no one could help her.
