Tom Heikens, 90

| February 11, 2022 12:00 AM

My beloved Tom left my life to go to a better place during the early morning hours on Feb 8, 2022.

He was born to John and Anna Heikens in 1931 in Glasgow, Montana. He enjoyed life on the farm and his cousins to spend fun times with.

The family moved to Kalispell during the war, and later to Ferndale. He attended high school in Bigfork where classmates were very close. They moved to the present place near Creston in 1949.

Tom and some of his friends enjoyed going to dances at Smith Valley Grange, and it was there a girl named Joyce decided he was a special person that she needed in her life. Tom and Joyce were united in marriage in 1954.

In December of 1954 he was called into the Army and ended up in Germany where Joyce joined him later. They called it their European honeymoon.

After returning home they decided it was time to start a family and were so blessed to have two sons, Randy and Jerry, and a daughter Jill.

Tom was a true farmer. It was his life. And he could fix any piece of machinery that broke, which was often.

He was a truly wonderful husband and father.

Tom was preceded in death by his parents, John and Anna, and sister Helen Zimmerman.

He is survived by his wife Joyce, sons Randy and wife Maria, and Jerry, and daughter Jill and husband Todd, and grandsons Ray, Scott and Nick.
