Converse, Moy key as Flathead holds off Eagles
MISSOULA — Clare Converse scored 13 points and the Flathead Bravettes held off Missoula Big Sky for a 44-37 Western AA girls basketball win Tuesday at the Eagles’ gym.
Maddy Moy added 10 points, and she and Converse fueled a third-quarter surge with a 3-pointer each. The Bravettes (14-3 overall, 10-3 in the Western AA) pushed a 19-17 halftime lead out to 32-24 going to the final frame.
Maddy Moy’s put-back of her own miss put Flathead up 37-27 with 3:14 left, and the Bravettes went 8-for-11 at the line in the fourth quarter to keep Big Sky (5-12, 3-10 in league) at bay.
Avery Chouinard added eight points, including a three. Kennedy Moore hit two big free throws with 29 seconds left to make it 43-34.
Averi Batt hit two threes and scored a game-high 17 points for the Eagles.
Flathead concludes its regular season at home Thursday against first-place Missoula Hellgate. Tip-off is at 7:15 p.m.
