Glacier wrestlers sweep Hellgate
The Glacier girls and boys wrestling team literally pinned a couple losses on the Hellgate Knights, in Western AA dual action Tuesday at the Wolf Den.
The Wolfpack boys won 48-9 with five pins; the girls prevailed 42-6 behind five more falls.
Kadence Rose, Brady Boll, Temree Payne-Taylor, Emily Pedron and Brooke Yeaden scored pins for the girls. For the boys it was CJ Johnson, Teegan Vasquez, Seth Doolan, Cody Vergeront and Ethan Dimaio.
Vasquez, the two-time state champion, actually had a technical fall in the making; he had five takedowns and three near falls on his opponent at 126 pounds.
“Just an awesome night overall for Wolfpack wrestling,” Glacier coach Ross Dankers said. “Both boys and girls were very offensive and on the attack. Really dominant on the feet.”
It was also Youth Night, and around 70 youth wrestlers, boys and girls, were at the meet.
“It was probably one of the bigger dual crowds, outside of crosstown, we’ve had in a few years,” Danker said. “A lot of energy around the program right now.”
