Law roundup: Man seeks overseas travel, willing to settle for a ride

A man hanging out inside the airport startled a fellow traveler when he asked about getting an airplane ticket for Germany. When the traveler explained they were unable to help with arranging overseas travel, the man asked for a ride instead. The traveler refused and last saw the man hanging out near the baggage entrance, they told the Flathead County Sheriff’s Office. They described the man’s behavior as “odd.”

A mother worried about her son’s growing internet fame contacted authorities. She told deputies that someone had posted multimedia on TikTok that featured her child in the background. So far it had 5,000 hits, but she was uncomfortable about her son being on social media. She asked deputies for help in removing the social media post.

A Kalispell area resident asked animal control for help with barking dogs in the neighborhood. The dogs had been sounding off for the last two years, they said.

Another Kalispell area resident thought his neighbor was baiting his dogs into barking. In the past, the neighbor had complained about the dogs barking, so he bought anti-barking collars for the three animals. He now suspected the neighbor was trying to incite the dogs to bark, he told deputies.

Two calves went free range and their owner sought help in locating the duo after an hour and a half of searching proved unsuccessful. The owner later located the cows, but still asked for deputies to potentially lend a hand in corralling them.

A bear threatening a chicken coop sparked a 911 call, but not from the owner of the chickens. A neighbor told dispatchers that it was not the bear’s first visit to the coop. The owner had threatened to kill it if it came back.

Deputies received a report of a woman standing in the middle of the road and throwing her belongings around. An SUV pulled up and someone inside told her to hop in, at which point she began throwing things at the vehicle. At some point, the woman allegedly got on top of the SUV.

A neighbor reported kids lighting off fireworks from the playground of a school. The kids refused to stop even after the neighbor asked them to leave.

A Lakeside resident asked for help with neighbors lighting off firecrackers. Dispatchers explained that fireworks were allowed within the county.

Gunshots riled a Kalispell-area resident who asked deputies to tell his neighbor to knock it off. The resident reported hearing both semi-automatic and automatic gunfire. Dispatchers explained that shooting was legal in the county.

A husband contacted authorities after having to pick his wife up roadside earlier in the morning. He told dispatchers that his wife had gone for a run when a male driver passed her and gave her a “weird look.” The motorist turned around and began following the woman, who ran down a driveway in response. The vehicle stopped at the entrance of the driveway and waited. By the time the husband arrived, the car was gone.

An employee phoned dispatchers regarding a drunk customer sitting outside the establishment on a chair. The customer had driven to the joint in an older truck and the employee worried he might try to get back behind the wheel. At some point, the customer tried to get the employee to sit on his lap. He left before authorities arrived.

Noise that sounded like small arms fired prompted a Kalispell area resident to contact the Sheriff’s Office. They said it was “really weird” and asked that it be documented.
