Legion: Loggers walk way to doubleheader sweep of Bucs
LIBBY — Aiden Rose drew a bases-loaded walk with two out in the bottom of the seventh, pushing in Dylan Buckner with the winning run in Libby’s 9-8 Legion baseball victory over the Bitterroot Bucs late Tuesday.
The win was Libby’s fifth straight and completed a doubleheader sweep; the Loggers (12-20) won Tuesday’s opener 6-5. This game went back and forth, with Libby leading 3-1, then trailing 5-3, then trailing 8-5 after Bitterroot scored three in its half of the seventh inning.
In their half, the Loggers drew four walks and saw Caleb Moeller get hit by a pitch to force in Landon Haddock — who earlier hit an RBI single — with the tying run. Rose was next; he drew a bases-loaded walk for the second time in the game. It was the 12th walk issued by the Bucs..
Moeller threw the first four innings, scattering seven hits and striking out three. Aydan Williamson took over and gave up five runs, though just two were earned.
Libby next plays Thursday at the Sapa-Johnsrud Memorial Tournament, in Whitefish, at 10 a.m. against the North idaho Lakers. The host Glacier Twins play at 6 p.m., and the tournament runs through the weekend.
The Kalispell A Lakers, meanwhile, are hosting the John R Harp Memorial tournament at Griffin Field and Archie Roe beginning Friday. The Mission Valley Mariners, Clark Fork Valley Riverdogs, Bozeman Bucks and Kootenia Valley Rangers are all competing. That tourney also concludes Sunday.
