Loggers win opener at Sapa-Johnsrud
WHITEFISH — Aydan Willamson’s two-run single broke a 6-6 tie, and helped the Libby Loggers take a 10-9 win over the North Idaho Lakers at the Sapa-Johnsrud Memorial tournament Thursday.
Williamson’s hit keyed a six-run fifth inning for the Loggers (13-20), who have won six straight games. The contest ended after five innings due to the tournament time limit; North Idaho pushed across three runs in its final at-bat; the tying run was on first when reliever Tripp Zhang got the final out on a popup.
Zhang had two hits, including a double, and drove in two runs.
The Glacier Twins played the late game at Memorial Stadium, also against the North Idaho Lakers. That contest had not ended at press time.
