Flathead Valley Community Band returns to live performance
The Flathead Valley Community Band (FVCB) presents “An Evening in the Park” concert Wednesday July 20, in Marantette Park, Columbia Falls. The program begins at 7:15 p.m. The band is under the direction of Allen Slater.
FVCB is a 501C3, a recognized non-profit organization with one goal: to provide music to a variety of audiences throughout the valley. Its purpose is to provide enjoyment and create a sense of community for both the band members and those who hear them play. The band is an established organization, performing nearly 50 year the oldest continuously operating private musical group in the greater Flathead Valley.
The band has held concerts across the valley, from Flathead High and Columbia Falls high schools auditoriums to city parks like Depot Park in Kalispell, Marantette Park in Columbia Falls, and Sliter Park in Bigfork where large audiences can gather comfortably and enjoy family-friendly programming. During the summer season the band also performs at a variety of care facilities such as the Montana Veterans Home, Prestige Assisted Living, The Springs at Whitefish, Lakeview Care Center, and Buffalo Hill Terrace.
The Covid-19 pandemic caused a suspension of its performance activities. The lack of performance opportunities during the suspension has had a significant financial impact on the band whose activities are funded through the generosity of audiences at concerts and from local sponsoring organizations. The group returns this summer with the financial support of a grant from the Whitefish Community Foundation, along with donations from other individuals.
There is no admission charge for this concert, but there will be a free will donation to help cover organizational costs.
