Bonnie Guthrie-Ross, 80

| July 24, 2022 12:00 AM

How can words possibly do justice to the person Bonnie was? Those that knew her will certainly understand how difficult a task it is.

Bonnie was born to Les and Bernice Slater on March 31, 1942, in Ronan. With her older sister Myrna, the family shared many adventures in the western United States but always returned to Montana. That was home and where she felt most at peace.

In 1963 Bonnie married Richard Guthrie in a double wedding with her sister, Myrna, who married Donald Hostak. They lived in Bigfork until moving to Spokane and then to Juneau, Alaska. Rich passed away in Bellingham, Washington, in 1976 and Bonnie raised her two children, Tod and Jodi, as a single parent for many years.

In 2001 Bonnie married Lloyd Ross and the two started a new chapter in their lives. They enjoyed over 20 years together and spent time with both families whenever possible. Bonnie loved being with the kids and grandkids whether in Bigfork or Scottsdale, Arizona.

Lloyd and Bonnie shared some wonderful experiences traveling both in and outside the United States. I’m sure we all enjoyed hearing of the places they visited. It was another great adventure for her.

She passed peacefully April 12, 2022, at their home in Scottsdale with her husband, Lloyd and family. Our love and prayers were with her as she went to join her family in heaven. We are all so grateful for the time we had with her before she passed.

Bonnie is survived by her husband, Lloyd Ross, his children Peter, John, Jane Laguna, Richard and Brian, Bonnie’s children Tod and Jodi, as well as 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.

Bonnie was the friend we loved to share good news with and the one we called on when life challenged us. We could always count on her to be a shoulder to cry on and then the voice of encouragement that helped us through.

On Aug. 6, at noon, at the Brown Church in Bigfork we will come together and share what she meant to us. I know we all have stories of love and laughter with Bonnie.

She hoped this could be a happy time; champagne is for celebrations and so it will be. She finished her journey and is home, so we will celebrate her life and the gift it was.
