Scouts present Tom Sliter Community Partnership Awards
The NW District Montana Council of Boy Scouts of America recently hosted an Investment in Character and Leadership breakfast fundraising event at the Buffalo Hill Golf Club, which included the Tom Sliter Community Partnership Awards.
Funds raised help support various programs to advance scouting skills and leadership growth for just under 300 scouts and adult scout leaders in Northwest Montana.
Funds also sustain two flagship camps in the Flathead Valley — Grizzly Base Camp just north of Bigfork, and Melita Island in Fathead Lake. These two venues are the destination for over a 1,000 scouts each year.
More than $25,000 was raised during 2021.
The Tom Sliter Community Partnership Awards recognizes people and organizations that contribute immeasurably to the community. This year, Tom Sliter’s son Andrew presented the award to Flathead area first responders including the Advanced Life-support and Emergency Rescue Team (ALERT), and the fire departments from Bigfork, Creston and Evergreen.
