Dorothy T. Galvin, 99
Dorothy T. Galvin passed away peacefully in her sleep on Nov. 5, 2022, at the Immanuel Skilled Care Center in Kalispell.
Dorothy was born July 16, 1923. She married her partner for life, Francis "Mick" Galvin on June 21, 1947, in Dubuque, lowa. Mick was with the Milwaukee Railroad and they moved around the country. Dorothy set up house in Indianapolis, Detroit, Mason City, Miles City, and finally settling in Great Falls. Mick and Dorothy enjoyed 61 years of married life, raising three children, Mike (Cindy) Galvin, Linda Galvin and Kathy (Doug) Hawley. Their lives produced four grandchildren, Travis (Jody) Galvin, Michelle (Andy) Ross, Tiler (Tom) Paliga and Austen (John) Shoults; and seven great-grandchildren, Allee, Nathan, Adyn, Moira, Gavin, William and Olivia.
Dorothy was active in Epsilon Sigma Alpha Philanthropic Sorority for several years. Dorothy and Mick were strong in their Catholic faith and did church work when called upon until health conditions would not allow. During her working years, she held various bookkeeping and secretarial positions, and enjoyed the challenges they presented. Dorothy retired in 1984 and then enjoyed fishing, camping, gardening and drives in the Montana countryside. Although she never won a State Fair grand prize for her famous dill pickles or chokecherry jelly, she could make a delicious sour cream raisin or apple pie in a moment's notice for our four to five course family dinners. We are grateful that she showed us how to be good cooks and bakers.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Francis “Mick,” her brother, Clarence, and three half-sisters, Gladys, Marian and Charlotte.
A private memorial service will be held for Dorothy at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, the family ask that those who are able to make a donation to Immanuel Lutheran Foundation, 40 Claremont Street, Kalispell, Montana 59901; https://immanuelfoundation.org/
