Harvey Antone Hanson, 95

| October 7, 2022 12:00 AM

Harvey Antone Hanson, 95, of Whitefish, passed away peacefully at home on Sept. 30, 2022, with his son Gary and a close friend by his side.

He was born on March 15, 1927, in Leeds, North Dakota, to Howard and Bernie Gresdahl Hanson. The family moved to Eureka in the fall of 1937. He attended schools in Eureka, graduating Lincoln County High School in 1950.

Harvey worked many jobs and was well known and cared for in the community. Everyone always seemed quick to mention what a hard worker he was. Even after retirement he worked for Snowline Tree Company for nearly a decade with close buddies Tom Little, and owner and manager Clint DeLong. Though he had a variety of jobs they were all in the timber industry. That kept him where he most wanted to be, out in the woods in God‘s country. He worked all over the Tobacco and Flathead Valleys where he also played, picking huckleberries. Camping, fishing and hunting were his passion. His love for the woods and skills in the timber industry were passed on to his son Gary who continues to follow in his footsteps.

Harvey married his wife Mona Burk Hanson on Oct. 6, 1972. She was an avid fisherman and became his treasured camping partner for life. They shared a passion for Montana’s great outdoors. His family life was enriched by his union with Mona and the bond that his children Gary D. Hanson and Brenda Hanson Blizzard shared with Mona’s children, Roger, Richard, Joani, Judy and Kelly.

Harvey was preceded in death by his daughter Sally Hanson, his wife Mona Burk Hanson, and daughter Kelly, along with eldest brother Stanley, and younger brothers Warren and Ray Hanson.

Survivors include his son Gary D. Hanson; daughter Brenda Hanson Blizzard (Roger), of Loon Lake, Washington; Roger Presnell (Arletta), of Eureka; Richard Presnell of Kalispell; Joani Young (Denny) of Kalispell; Judy Klein of Tucson, Arizonz; and many beloved nieces and nephews, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.

Viewing will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 10, at Schnackenberg Funeral Home, 222 1st Avenue West in Eureka. Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 11, at Holy Cross Lutheran Church in Eureka. The Tobacco Valley Cemetery will be Harvey’s final destination. There he will be laid to rest and be reunited with his daughter Sally and wife Mona Burk Hanson. He will be missed. Rest in peace.
