Sapa scores 2 TDS, Wildcats beat Bulldogs 24-20
COLUMBIA FALLS — Cody Schweikert ran for one touchdown and threw for another and the Columbia Falls Wildcats downed the Whitefish Bulldogs 24-20 on Friday in Western A football.
Schweikert was 21-for-30 passing with 237 yards and carried the ball 21 times for 90 yards.
The Wildcats trailed 20-17 in the fourth quarter when Reggie Sapa ripped off a 14-yard touchdown run that gave the home team a 24-20 lead.
Schweikert hit Sapa for a 16-yard TD in the third for a 17-13 Wildcats lead. Whitefish responded with a 27-yard bomb from Fynn Ridgeway to Ryder Barinowski and led
Ridgeway was no slouch — he threw for two TDS, 151 yards and completed 14 of 21 passes.
Schweikert and Ridgeway traded rushing scores in the first quarter, and things were tied 7-7.
Whitefish recovered a fumbled Columbia Falls punt that led to a drive that ended with Ridgeway’s tying TD.
Sapa had 12 carries for 77 yards. Whitefish running back Ty Schwaiger ran for 22 yards and had seven carries, and Ridgeway toted the ball 17 times and rushed for 84 yards.
Ridgeway’s longest pass of the night was 56 yards to Clayton Godsey, which gave Whitefish a 13-10 lead to start off the third.
