Law roundup: Woman douses tantrum with water

| October 23, 2022 12:00 AM

A woman spotted allegedly pouring water on a screaming baby in the parking lot of a local grocery store earned a phone call to the Kalispell Police Department. When officers spoke with the woman via phone, she explained that her 4-year-old was in the middle of a tantrum, one that began in the store and continued into the parking lot, and she splashed water in his face to cool him off.

This is her usual tactic, she told officers, though at home she uses a spray bottle. Officers reported that the child answered the phone when they called and sounded fine.

Officers were dispatched to a local gazebo for a report of teenagers stacking picnic tables. The individual behind the report said it wasn’t the first time the teens built a pyramid out of picnic tables. The last time they used it to climb atop the gazebo.

Arriving officers found the picnic tables in their normal configuration

Authorities investigated a report of a suspicious man sleeping in a white Chevrolet. He then woke up and began walking around before heading up the stairs of an area building. Officers checked out the registration of the vehicle and found it linked to a nearby business.

A resident told police that her ex-husband kept coming around, driving by her home slowly, pulling in and sitting in front of the house and even placing items over the fence. Both his and her attorneys had warned him against showing up or contacting her, she said. She also told police another ex-wife of his had taken out a restraining order against him. She agreed to start taking photographs of him when he comes around.

A tenant told police that the level of harassment from her neighbors left her feeling “trapped in her apartment.” She wanted to let her dogs out, but felt nervous doing so because the neighbors often follow along and harass her as she walks her pets. Complaints to the landlord had gone unheeded thus far, the tenant said.

Officers counseled a woman looking to repossess tires and rims from an ex-significant other. They deemed it a civil issue.

An apparently “ranting” woman told dispatchers she wanted to leave the state and said that President Joe Biden had kicked her butt (though she used more profane language). As a result, the police department owed her money, she claimed.

Someone spotted two to three people underneath an area bridge yelling at kids as they walked on by. Responding officers located one individual, who told them he did not hear anything under the bridge as he headed back to class.
