Law roundup: No ovation for street performer

A guy reportedly playing a “fake violin” was panhandling while three children ran around in the grass and someone was concerned about people’s safety because the children kept running toward the road causing cars to hit their brakes. Kalispell Police Department officers spoke with the man, who said he was a street performer, telling him the shopping complex was privately managed and giving him a copy of the city’s panhandling ordinance.

Mailboxes were kicked in.

A man wearing a green plaid shirt and cargo pants allegedly threatened to put a bullet in someone’s head over an argument.

A man in a vehicle allegedly dumped an open container of beer in a parking lot and drove away.

Someone was concerned that children would have to walk in the road to get around a vehicle parked on the sidewalk.

Someone reportedly stopped to check on a man using a wheelchair in the roadway and seemed emotionally distraught. The man said he lost his wife recently and was having a bad day. The passerby wanted officers to also check on him.

A bearded man and woman with red hair allegedly stole pallets behind a store after an employee told them they weren’t allowed to take them. The employee wanted them cited for theft. Officers spoke with the man who thought there was a miscommunication because he thought the pallets were free and agreed to return them.

There continue to be issues with teens racing around a grocery store parking lot. This time, it involved a red Nissan and a black Mazda. An employee allegedly asked officers to drive through and “run the kids off,” and remove the ones that don’t leave.

A 2019 dark gray Honda CRV was reported stolen.

A cream-colored van allegedly pulled up to a man’s 2017 silver Ford Raptor, a person hopped out, got into his truck and stole it. The man told officers he followed the van and was talking to one of the occupants. A woman was taken to jail.

Two teens and two adults were reportedly fighting in the street. One of the teens had a bleeding lip.

A dog was allegedly panting and drooling inside an Audi SUV that had its windows cracked, without water, for at least 45 to 50 minutes in a parking lot.

A woman reportedly received a call from an unidentified person stating they had papers to serve and then a man with blonde hair and glasses showed up saying the same thing, but he did not have physical papers with him. Extra patrol was requested.
