Kalispell man dies in crash Friday
A 47-year-old Kalispell man died in a crash in Somers Friday night when his motorcycle collided with a truck, trapping him underneath.
According to Montana Highway Patrol, a 49-year-old Somers man driving a Toyota Sequoia north on Somers Road attempted to turn right onto Montana 82, in front of the Harley Davidson motorcycle that was traveling east on Montana 82. The truck failed to yield to the motorcycle, which had the right-of-way, and the motorcycle struck the side of the truck, trapping the Kalispell man underneath, according to troopers, who were dispatched to the scene at 6:35 p.m. The Kalispell man was pronounced dead at the scene. The Somers man was not injured.
Alcohol is suspected to be a cause of the crash and the Somers man was taken to Logan Health to have his blood drawn. Troopers said the Somers man was wearing his seat belt and the Kalispell man was wearing his helmet.
The crash is under investigation.
