Flathead Valley native Kalen Young was recently named as the new executive director of the Logan Health Whitefish Foundation.

In her role, Young will lead fundraising initiatives based on the hospital’s short- and long-range strategic plans and facility needs, as well as serve on the Logan Health Whitefish senior leadership team, a press release from the hospital stated.

“When Alan Satterlee decided to retire from his position with Logan Health Whitefish Foundation, we knew that it would take a special individual to fill his role,” said Katie Lesar, Logan Health Whitefish Foundation Board Chair. “After a deliberate interview process, we are thrilled that Kalen Young has accepted the invitation to become the new executive director of the Foundation. Kalen has a background in working for a healthcare foundation, and is adept at coordinating teams, and has expertise in program development and fundraising. And to top it all off, she has familial connections in Whitefish.”

Young previously worked with the Vasculitis Foundation where she started in 2014 as the director of research affairs and then served as the director of development and communication since 2020.

A fifth generation of the Flathead Valley, Young grew up in Whitefish leaving the valley before high school. After living in several areas, and returning to the valley in the summers for vacations, she moved back permanently during the Covid-19 pandemic with her two sons, ages 12 and 10.

Young shared her excitement for the opportunity to work for a local nonprofit.

“This job is in line with my passion for providing holistic care to a population through a nonprofit. I look forward to making connections with community partners and strategic planning required in order to meet the needs of the hospital and its communities,” Young said.

“Coming home after living in several different communities and seeing the valley today I understand the balance needed to stay true to our roots and values yet welcome new community members and grow to meet the needs of the communities. I am looking forward to working closely with the foundation board in Whitefish and looking for new ways to develop philanthropic support.”
