Library board appointment rescheduled for Oct. 3

The Flathead County Commission rescheduled its vote to fill a vacancy on the ImagineIF Board of Trustees.

Originally expected to make a choice Sept. 20, they are set to make a selection on Oct. 3 at 10:15 a.m. Public comment will take place at 10 a.m.

Flathead County Public Information Officer Steven White said Commissioner Brad Abell was unable to attend Tuesday’s meeting. All of the commissioners wanted to be present in order to make an informed vote for the library board, White said.

Commissioners were sent two names for consideration by the library board, Jane Wheeler and Taaylr Claridge. There were 13 applicants in total for the vacancy.

Commissioners can disregard the board’s top picks and choose from anyone in the applicant pool, though they typically honor recommendations.

The next regularly scheduled board meeting for ImagineIF takes place at the Kalispell Library on Sept. 22 at 9 a.m. The board will have their strategic planning retreat on Oct. 4.
