Letters to the editor Sept. 29

Tough words

In response to the editorial written by Angela Kennedy running for House District 7, Angela said: “The vast majority of Americans support a woman’s right to safely and privately choose.” But Angela did not finish the sentence and tell me choose what? I assume she meant to say, choose to kill their baby in their mother’s womb.

Also, Angela objected to the waiting period? A waiting period that Gov. Gianforte wants would give the mother time to discern her decision and keep the child in her womb. How is that “extreme?” Life and death decisions should not be made in an abortion clinic in hast; there should be an ultrasound and counseling with all the options available to the mother. You would vote against that why?

The informed consent requirements you seem to object to, is a parent giving consent to a minor girl so that the parents could discuss the procedure with their daughter. Their little girl who will come home after having an abortion and wonder why she is feeling so alone and contemplate suicide (check the statistics). You do not think that informed consent is necessary, really?

Last point, Angela you wrote: “Reproductive health care women will be thrown back into the dark days of illegal and unsafe abortions that could lead to pain, suffering, loss of fertility and even death.” Again, were you talking about the pain, suffering, loss of fertility and even death after an abortion? Those are all medical things that happen after an abortion.

Your website says you will represent us ethically with values and put our families first. Morals, values, words matter Angela, and so do little fingers, toes, and hearts beating at 6 1/2 weeks. Gov. Gianforte is trying to protect all Montana’s even those without a voice, the unborn Montanans who did not ask for a death sentence from a Democrat who might get to vote on their life.

Tough words, but we are talking about life and death, Montana women think tough words are necessary.

I’ve noticed that everyone who is for abortion has already been born.

Two-edged sword

The crisis at America’s southern border is a two-edged sword wielded by both political parties.

One edge of this sword is the Democrats’ refusal to secure the border and enforce existing immigration laws, while aiding and abetting the illegal-alien invasion.

The other edge is the Republicans who use the CIA, NGOs and harsh sanctions in Latin America to effect regime changes that benefit corporate America’s ability to freely exploit the natural and human resources of these countries, causing cultural chaos and economic collapse that result in millions-of-desperate people fleeing north to survive.

We have no solution to the southern border crisis because both political parties are the problem. And while they sling mud at each other, the crisis only worsens. Or as Pogo so wisely said, “We have met the enemy and he is us.”

Until the American people demand that this two-edged sword be sheathed immediately and that both political parties first secure the southern border and enforce the law of the land; and, secondly, cease meddling with the sovereignty and destiny of our southern neighbors, the United States will continue going the way of the Roman Empire.

Wokeness

In the past the religious revival that swept our nation that turned our country back to God was called “The Awakening.” Now a great disaster that is turning people away from our Lord Jesus is called Awoke.

Awakening inspired by God. Awoke inspired by Satan. The scripture says in the last days there will be a great turning from God’s truth. It also says “a nation that turns from God will perish.” Ben Winslow said, “the most dangerous citizen is not the armed but the uninformed,”

Until our churches and those who believe in the Holy Scripture turn back to God and stand up for the truth, we are doomed. Nothing but repentance and obedience to our Lord will turn this country around.

Wake up churches. Stand on God’s truth. It is only then our great country will once again be free from the descent into the pages of great nations that have collapsed from the inside.

It is the apathy and not standing for the truth of God that has reached such a low that our young children are being taught they don’t even know what gender they are.

To do nothing we are doing something: Destroying our nation.

The Canyon

I am writing this letter due to some concerns I have in “The Canyon.” I was born in Whitefish and raised in Hungry Horse and Coram. I then left and returned in 2013 to “The Canyon.” To my dismay so much had and still is changing. I live now in Columbia Falls because I’m closer to my job and because all changed so much up there and not in a good way.

My first concern is that there are so many generation X kids up there that have no clue about what it means to work hard and earn your way through life. This bothers me because I would like to know what went haywire for all these young adults to not know anything about work ethics. I blame the parents of these young adults, but I also blame society.

Society should not pass judgment because of hearsay. Instead of continually judging the problems we should work together to find solutions. My first thoughts about a possible solution is to try for 6 months to one year to provide public transit. Start with having an early morning transit pick up people followed by a mid-morning one. This can be a way for individuals to be able to find jobs in town. Then also run two transits in late afternoon and evening time.

My second concern is about these young adults that are homeless. There are buildings that are vacant in all three towns. Why can’t these buildings be utilized and be homeless shelters? Then these young adults may want to better themselves if they have a job to go to each day and shelter to come back to each night where they can shower.

Candidate assessment

On, or prior to Nov. 8, residents of Montana House District 3 have the opportunity to choose which candidate will represent them for the next two years.

Believing that responsible voters should research such candidates prior to casting their ballot; mine revealed that the incumbent representative’s record is sadly wanting. He introduced resolution HB 11 that sought for the designation of Antifa as a domestic terrorist organization, which failed to pass. What in heck that has to do with the residents of HD3 is a mystery. Question: If someone is against Antifa, which is short for Antifascist, doesn’t it then appear that they must be Pro-fascist and in favor of the likes of, say, Mussolini, Francisco Franco or Adolf Hitler?

Said incumbent jointly introduced HB 124 which sought to allow citizens to shoot injured game animals within city limits, which also failed. He co-authored failed HB 314 which also had nothing to do with HD3. He did, however, have a 92% vote record with the majority GOP caucus, which suspiciously sounds like being a rubber stamp.

As for benefiting the residents of HD3, it appears that in two years of accepting income to represent them in Legislature, he has accomplished nothing, nada, zilch, zero. This begs the question; Why would any employer rehire someone who has done nothing but accept a paycheck for two years?

My research and personal meeting with the challenger, Ms. Andrea Getts, gave me the welcomed, informed and concerned young person, cognizant that an elected official must strive to represent all residents of the district to the best of their ability, not just party affiliates. I believe that is exactly what she would do if elected. Even should she achieve just one accomplishment benefiting her constituents, that would be a 100% increase in representation.

No one should just believe my assessment, but check for them self into each candidate. Visit votegetts.com and search HD3 representative voting record and become informed.

Andrea Getts my vote.
