Columbia Falls teams place 5th in Hamilton

HAMILTON — The Columbia Falls track and field teams got early tests Thursday, both finishing fifth at the 20-team Hamilton Invitational.

The host Broncs swept the team titles, scoring 111 points on the girls side and 74 on the boys. Corvallis was second in both team races, with 72 and 67 points.

Columbia Falls’ boys scored 42 points and the girls, 43.

Among the Wildcats’ top races was the 100, where Malaki Simpson (11.58 seconds) and Kai Golan (11.81) finished 2-3. Simpson also finished second in the 200, to Seeley-Swan’s Owen Hoag (Hoag also won the 100), with a time of 22.96; that’s the early leader in Class A this spring.

The Wildcats also saw Adam Schrader take second in the 400, and Lane Voermans mark a personal-best 48 feet, 2 inches in the shot put while taking third..

For the girls: The Wildkats’ Siri Erickson won the 800 in 2:29.61, the best mark thus far in Class A; teammate Mya Badger was fifth in that race.

Teammate Emma McAllister placed third in the pole vault, as did Ally Sempf in the 100 (13.68).
