Wolfpack win softball home opener
Spring is in the air and softball is underway for the Glacier Wolfpack who took home a 15-0 win over Missoula Hellgate after the run-rule came into play in the bottom of the third inning.
Ella Farrell got the start for Glacier and racked up five strikeouts while allowing zero hits in two innings of work. Morgan Vivian took over in relief in the top of the third and kept things rolling by striking out three while allowing only one hit.
Glacier Head Coach Abby Snipes was happy with her pitching staff performance and noted their ability to limit the free pass on the day being a key to success. "It's great to see Ella get that really strong start and then Morgan came in and did a really great job, no walks from either pitcher so that's huge keeping runners off the bases."
Glacier's offense tallied two runs in the first inning off Hellgate starting pitcher Kaylie Moe then exploded for an 11 run 2nd inning. Glacier right fielder Emma Cooke led the Wolfpack with three RBI and Farrell helped her own cause by driving in a pair of runs. Brooklyn Imperato and Avery Anderson also chipped in two RBI each for the Wolfpack.
"Our focus today was really to start the season strong and I think we had great performances from all of our starters and everyone we brought into the game as we went through it," Snipes said.
The Wolfpack are back at it today as they host Columbia Falls at 5 p.m. in a non-conference matchup.
