Vals win own Invite; Whitefish girls go fast
BIGFORK — The Bigfork Valkyries had the points and the Whitefish Lady Bulldogs had the times.
With Zoey Albert and Madison Chappius going 1-2 in the javelin, the Vals won the girls team title at their Bigfork Invitational track and field meet Saturday.
Albert’s toss of 116 feet, 9 inches in the javelin leads Class B. Scout Nadeau won the shot put with an impressive throw of 37-5.5 — also best in Class B to this point — to help Bigfork pile up 94 points to 81 for Whitefish and 54 for Thompson Falls.
Missoula Loyola cruised to the boys team title with 119 points. Whitefish was second at 67, followed by Bigfork at 61.

Ells (60.92) and Zetooney went 1-2 in the 400 as well, and sit first and third in the A rankings. The duo teamed with Wilmot and Bailey Smith for a blistering, 51-second short relay time, best in Class A.
The Bulldogs also got a win from Norah Schmidt in the pole vault — she cleared 8-9, while Eureka’s Karli Campbell made 8-6 for second.
Loyola’s Isabelle Berry and Libby’s Aurora Smith won the 100 and 300 hurdles; Bigfork’s Inga Turner and Braeden Gunlock were second in each race. Berry sits atop the B rankings in four events after Saturday: both hurdles and the 100 and 200.
Eureka’s Remmi Stanger edged Libby’s Rylee Boltz on criteria in the high jump, where both cleared 5-0, and Stanger now leads Class B.
Loyola’s boys were led by sprinter Luca Dombrowski’s wins in the 100 and 400; both of his times, 11.57 and 52.03, lead Class B. Libby’s Kasen Day won the 100 in 24.07 seconds.
Whitefish’s Nate Inglefinger swept the 800 and 1,600; the Bulldogs took five of six places in the latter.
