Wolfpack walks off Sentinel with 6 in 7th
Emma Cooke’s two-run double capped a six-run rally by Glacier Thursday, and the Wolfpack walked off Missoula Sentinel 15-14 in a wild Western AA softball game at Glacier High.
Cooke’s game-winner gave her four runs batted in and capped the second rally of the game by the Wolfpack: The hosts made up a 7-0 deficit with seven runs in the fourth inning, then fell behind the Spartans 11-7 and 14-9.
Cazz Rankosky had three hits, including two doubles, and scored three times for the Wolfpack (4-0 overall, 3-0 in the Western AA). She singled with one out in the seventh, hustled to second on a throw from the outfield and eventually scored the game-winning run with one out.
The rally started with a solo home run from Ella Farrell, was helped by a dropped fly ball and amped up by a pinch-hit, 3-run double from Paishance Haller that cut the gap to 14-13.
Kenadie Goudette had three hits from her leadoff spot for the Pack, and her grand slam knotted the game at 7-7 in the fourth inning. She scored three runs.
Morgan Olson hit a two-run single in the fourth to put Sentinel (5-2, 3-2 in league) up 6-0; she hit a 3-run home run in the sixth that put the Spartans ahead 11-7 and added an RBI single in the seventh. She was 5-for-5 with six RBIs.
The teams combined for 27 hits and 13 walks; Glacier drew nine free passes.
Avery Anderson and Brooklyn Imperato both scored twice for Glacier, which stays home Saturday to play Helena Capital (noon) and Helena High (2 p.m.).
