Briefs: Windauer lands scholarship; Lakers camp April 21
Columbia Falls standout Justin Windauer is among three Montana wrestlers to land Alexander (Zander) Blewett III scholarships to start their college careers.
Blewett, a trial lawyer for Hoyt & Blewett PLLC in Great Falls, in his 17th year awarding $1,000 scholarships to top student-wrestlers in Classes AA, A and B/C.
This year’s recipients each won two state titles. Windauer also finished second and third in his career, holds a 4.0 grade-point average and helped the MatCats to their first State A title since 1990.
Cooper Lane of Huntley Project is the B/C winner; he helped the Red Devils win the last two State B titles and posted second- and fifth-place finishes earlier in his career.
Both Windauer and Lane are headed to MSU-Northern to wrestle.
Israel Moreno of Missoula Big Sky is the AA recipient. In addition to his state titles he was a USA Wrestling Folkstyle National Champion in 2022. Moreno plans to wrestle for Northern Iowa.
Lakers Baseball Camp April 21 at Griffin
The Kalispell Lakers will host their annual Lakers Baseball Camp on April 21 at Griffin (Lakers) Field from 6-9 p.m.
Prospective players are encouraged to get a head start on the season and have a great time enhancing fundamentals in throwing, fielding, and hitting with the Lakers coaching staff and players.
