Bigfork thinclads sweep Dilly Bar Invitational

RONAN — Jack Jensen won two distance races, Scout Nadeau swept the discus and shot put and Bigfork won both sides of the Dilly Bar Invitational track and field meet Saturday.

The Valkyries won the seven-team girls meet with 150 points to 92 for Superior and 78 for the host Ronan Maidens.

Nadeau won the shot with a heave of 36 feet, 1.5 inches, well below the Class B-best 37-7 she set Tuesday at the Kalispell Time Trials.

Alongside Nadeau, Bigfork’s Madison Chappius won the javelin with a throw of 117-5 and was second in the shot put at 35-1. Chappius unofficially ranks fourth in the shot and second in the javelin in B.

The Valkyries won the 400-meter relay in 52.50, best in Class B, and the 1,600 relay in 4:31.02, which sits second.

Bigfork’s Afton Lambrecht clocked 2:34.41 in the girls 800, third-best in Class B; she finished second to Superior’s Braelynn Mangold (2:30.63), who is fourth in Class C.

The Bobcats’ Isabella Pereira cleared 8-6 in the pole vault, fourth in C as well.

Ronan’s Leina Ulutoa marked 34-5 to win the triple jump and take over the top spot in Class A. Her teammate Olivia Heiner won the 1,600 and 3,200 and ran a personal-best 12:46.28 in the latter, while Polson’s Ashtyn Wagner took second in 13:03.47.

The duo now ranks 5-6 in Class A in that event.

Jensen now owns the best 1,600 meters time in Class B at 4:39.23, and second-best 800 mark at 2:06.36 after his two wins Saturday. His Vikings piled up 124 points. Ronan was second at 81.5 and Mission was next with 54.

Bigfork’s Isak Epperly zipped through the 110 hurdles in 15.78, which puts him second in B, and teammate Wyatt Johnson ran the third-best 300 hurdles time in Class B Saturday: 43.46.

Bigfork’s Tristen Herd became the third vaulter to clear 12 feet in the classification. Also, Vikings Levi Peterson (41-5) and Wyatt Barnes (40-6) moved up to 2-3 in the Class B triple jump while finishing first and third Saturday.

Mission’s Bryce Umphrey met the State B qualifying standard while winning the long jump with a leap of 20-7; that’s best in Class B. Teammate Zoran LaFrombois clocked 4:48.15 in the 1,600, which puts him in the top five in B.

Other top marks came from Ronan’s Connor Durglo, who went 41-4 to sit fourth in the triple jump in Class A; the Chiefs’ long relay ran a top-six time for Class A (3:40.35).

Polson’s Drifter Skillicorn won the 400 in 53.77 seconds, which is sixth in Class A.

Among Class C schools, Charlo’s long relay ran 3:47.01 sits sixth; Superior’s Jackson Green had the second-best shot put in C, marking 44-4; and the Bobcats’ Lucas Kovaksy is the third C athlete to clear 12-6 in the pole vault.
