The Glacier Wolfpack softball squad is good in the late innings and still unbeaten.

Ella Farrell threw a 12-inning complete game and hit a solo home run with two out in the bottom of the inning Saturday, as the Wolfpack beat visiting Helena Capital 5-4.

Then Farrell hit a tie-breaking, two-run single in the sixth inning to help Glacier beat Helena High 6-4.

“Both games were great team wins,” said Glacier coach Abby Snipes, whose club is 6-0 overall and 5-0 against Western AA teams. “Everyone stepped up at different points and supported one another, refusing to back down.

“Ella Farrell was clutch on the mound and at the plate. Morgan Vivian pitched solid innings in her first varsity start. Overall, a great day for the Wolfpack and I’m so proud of all of them.”

In the opener Farrell hit an RBI double in the fourth inning, Kenadie Goudette hit a solo homer in the fifth and Morgan Vivian socked an RBI single in the sixth. These were important runs since the Bruins scored two runs in the seventh — off a wild pitch and A Cockhill’s RBI single — to knot the score at 4-4 and force extra innings.

No one scored again until Farrell got up in the 12th. The junior scattered nine hits and four walks against the Bruins (7-1, 3-1 in league), with seven strikeouts.

Goudette scored twice in the first game; in the nightcap she scored three times. She was hit by a pitch to start the sixth inning and moved up on walks to Cazz Rankosky and Emma Cooke ahead of Farrell’s go-ahead knock.

Rankosky, Cooke and Farrell all had two hits and Rankosky scored twice; all them hit doubles.

Rankosky’s RBI double sparked a 3-run first inning that was helped by a Helena error and a wild pitch that scored Cooke.

Morgan Vivian threw five innings against the Bengals (6-2, 1-2), striking out six before giving away to Nakiah Persinger in the sixth. Farrell pitched a scoreless seventh for the save.

Glacier’s next action is Thursday’s Crosstown game against Flathead, at 5 p.m. at KidSport.
