Law roundup: Online tax preparer imposes levy of its own

Filing taxes got a little more expensive for one Kalispell woman this year. She reported the online firm she used to finalize her return to the Kalispell Police Department for allegedly withdrawing money from her bank account. Officers let her know that she would need to dispute the charge with the company and her bank. They provided online resources to help her and suggested she close her bank account to prevent more withdrawals.

A man contacted police concerned that his girlfriend put something in the gas tank of his car.

Authorities checked on a woman in a vehicle after an individual reported seeing her slump over as if she had overdosed on drugs. Officers determined the woman was fine.

Store employees asked police to perform a walkthrough of the premises after spotting several suspicious people heading into the bathrooms. The shady characters left before officers arrived.

An employee of another business asked that officers bar a person from the property after they allegedly vandalized the bathroom and urinated on the building.

Police were called on a woman allegedly spotted behaving erratically and talking to herself while walking through a park. She also was “crossing roads dangerously.” After speaking with her, officers determined she was fine.

Someone reported seeing a motorist smoking marijuana out of a glass pipe.

Authorities investigated the theft of four shotguns and a fly rod from a storage unit.

A caller reported possibly being the target of a stalker driving a vehicle that lacked license plates.

Two men allegedly were putting furniture next to a nearby dumpster, but not before spray painting them with profanities.

Officers spoke with a man who was accused of earlier hanging out on a hill, screaming curse words and threatening to kill people.

Officers told another man to quit yelling at people after a passerby spotted him accosting a jogger on the bike path.

A property owner called police after spotting two homeless people with a dog and shopping cart head into a wooded area to bed down for the night.

Officers approached a woman after receiving reports she was drunkenly throwing stuff, including her shoes, and yelling at people. An “unintelligible” conversation ensued, officers reported.

Another woman was reportedly drunkenly vandalizing property, throwing trash and trying to force her way into a business. Responding officers were unsuccessful in locating her.

A caller asked if officers could pick up a drunk, but peaceable woman and possibly give her a ride.

Someone stole another person’s trash can.

A pharmacist reported receiving several inappropriate phone calls from a man several nights earlier.

Store security asked for help from police after a man tried to steal alcohol. After getting caught, the man threatened employees and left.
