Polson softball tops C-Falls Friday, 8-6

COLUMBIA FALLS — Samantha Rensvold hit a go-ahead, 2-run single in the seventh inning for Polson, and the Pirates rallied to beat Columbia Falls 8-6 in a Northwest A softball showdown Friday.

Maddie Moultray had three hits, including two doubles, and pitched a complete game for the Wildkats, who rallied from an early 5-0 deficit to claim a 6-5 lead on Sidney Mann’s RBI double in the sixth inning.

Polson pulled back in front 7-6 with a walk, a base knock from McKenna Hanson, a bunt and then Rensvold’s single.

Rensvold, who also threw a complete game, moved up on a wild pitch and scored the game’s final run on Avery Starr’s RBI base hit. She then pitched around a one-out walk in the seventh to nail down the win.

Bella Mann scored twice for Columbia Falls.

COLUMBIA FALLS — On Thursday the Wildcats’ Aspen Dawson with 4-for-4 with two home runs and nine runs batted in, while Browning didn’t manage a hit.

Dawson scored four times for Columbia Falls, while Kyra Trenkle crossed home plate three times. Sophie Robbins had three hits and three RBIs’ Mann and Maddie Collins each had two RBIs.

Moultray threw two innings and Haden Peters threw one; the game ended under the mercy rule.
