Wildkats score late to put away Flathead
Columbia Falls’ Sydney Mann outdueled Flathead pitcher Macey McIlhargey, shaking off a homer by Kaidyn Lake to beat the Bravettes 6-3 in non-conference softball action Tuesday at KidSport.
Leadoff hitter Aspen Dawson had two doubles and scored three times for the Northwest A Wildkats (6-3). Maddy Collins had three RBIs, including a two-run single in the seventh to give Columbia Falls some breathing room.
After Lake’s two-run homer knotted the game at 2-2 in the fourth inning, the visitors took the lead for good on Addy Bowler’s RBI single in the fifth inning.
Kinsey Lake drew a bases-loaded walk in the sixth for Flathead, pairing Columbia Falls’ lead to 4-3.
Mann, throwing to catcher Bella Mann, allowed seven hits and three walks. She struck out six.
McIlhargey scattered nine hits and a walk and fanned nine for the Western AA Bravettes (2-7).
