Persinger, Allen, Cooke hit HRs as Pack sweep
Zoey Allen and Emma Cooke hit home runs, and Nakiah Persinger packed two homers into one game as Glacier swept Butte Friday in a Western AA softball doubleheader.
The Wolfpack (9-0 overall, 8-0 in league games) batted just twice in the opener, but scored 12 runs in the second inning of a 15-0 win over the Bulldogs. Allen hit a two-run homer in that big inning; she, Cazz Rankosky and pitcher Ella Farrell all drove in two runs.
Persinger, Cooke and Cooke all scored three runs in the first game, and Daytona Schuman and Kenadie Goudette scored twice.
Playing as the visitor in the nightcap, the Wolfpack got a 3-run, inside the park home run from Persinger and a two-run shot from Cooke in a six-run fifth inning. Glacier won 17-2.
In the third inning Persinger hit a three-run homer to put her squad up 11-0 on the Bulldogs (1-9, 1-7 in league). She drove in eight runs total.
Avery Anderson and Rankosky each had three hits and scored three times in the second game; Anderson and Allen each smacked two doubles.
Morgan Vivian threw a complete game, allowing three hits and a walk in five innings. She fanned two. Farrell threw just three innings in the opener — both games, played at Glacier, ended early under the 10-run rule — and allowed one hit and no walks, striking out five.
The Wolfpack’s next game is at Missoula Sentinel on Tuesday, at 3 p.m.
