Mohl homers in Grizzlies’ softball loss
MISSOULA — Montana’s Kynzie Mohl hit a two-run, first-inning home run, but the Grizzlies didn’t score from there in a 5-2 loss to Weber State Saturday, in Big Sky Conference softball.
The Grizzlies fell to 10-35 overall and 4-11 in Big Sky games after hitting just 3-for-18 with runners on base. Mohl had one of those hits; the Glacier High product hit her second career homer after Kendall Curtis hit a two-out double.
Mohl swung the ball well on the weekend, going 1-for-4 in a rare start Saturday after going a combined 3-for-4 with two RBIs while Montana split a doubleheader with the Wildcats.
She hit a pinch-hit, two-run single in Montana’s 6-1 win in the first game, backing the pitching of Allie Brock. She added two singles in an 11-10 loss in the second — a game in which Weber bolted to a 7-0 lead.
Mohl is now hitting .250 (11 for 44) on the season, with nine RBIs. Her .432 slugging percentage and .759 OPS rank first on the team, though she’s played in just 24 of 45 games.
Montana will take the No. 6 (bottom) seed into the Big Sky Conference tournament that begins May 10 in Ogden, Utah.
