WHITEFISH — The Whitefish boys used depth to win their own ARM Invitational track and field meet Saturday, and the Columbia Falls Wildkats won the girls team title the same way.

The Bulldog boys won four events while piling up 117 points to 99 for second-place Bigfork; Havre (94) and Columbia Falls (86) finished 3-4 in the team race.

Then the Wildkats scored 112 points to win the girls title despite the presence of just one event winner: Emma McAllister, who took the pole vault.

Havre edged Bigfork 80-78.5 for third place, and the Whitefish girls — getting a sprint sweep from Brooke Zetooney — were fifth with 60.

Zetooney hit personal records in the 400 (58.57 seconds) and 200 (25.79) and bested a talented 100 field with a time of 12.63. The 200 and 400 were fast: Columbia Falls’ Ally Sempf (26.04) and Tia Baker (fourth at 27.85) and Havre’s Kaydance Reiter (26.53) all hit PRs.

Hailey Ells hit her season best (59.59) while taking second in the 400; the next two placers, including Bigfork’s Afton Lambrecht (61.89), hit PRs.

Zetooney also anchored the Bulldogs’ winning 400-meter relay — another fast race that Whitefish finished in a Class A-best 50.07, followed by bests from Havre (50.98) and Columbia Falls (51.56).

Other PRs came from Thompson Falls’ Ellie Baxter, who won the 800 in 2:36.57 and ran her best time in the 1,600 (taking third); and Whitefish’s Maeve Ingelfinger, who ran 12:50.82 in the 3,200 to complete a distance double.

Columbia Falls took places 2-5 in the 3,200 and three of the top places in the 1,600, led by Siri Erickson’s second place finish. In the pole vault, the Kats’ Soli Bullemer took second with a PR of 9 feet.

Bigfork was led by Inga Turner, who hit season bests while winning the 100 hurdles in 16.31 and the long jump with a mark of 16-4.

The Whitefish boys had wins from Ethan Amick in the 3,200, Carson Krack in the high jump and the 300 hurdles, and in the long relay.

Crack was also second in the long jump, marking 20-7.25 while Columbia Falls’ Jace Duval won in 21-1. Both marks were PRs and sit in the top seven in A.

Columbia Falls also saw Malaki Simpson run the fastest time in Class A for the 100 meters, winning in 11.04; he won the 400 in 50.89, the No. 3 time in A and a PR.

The Wildcats’ Lane Voermans PR’d in the shot put, taking second behind Libby’s Cy Stevenson with a heave of 48-11.5; that is sixth in Class A.

A highlight race had to be the boys 800, where Havre’s Caleb Tomac won by just .01 over Jack Jensen of Bigfork. Tomac, who also won the 1,600, came across in 2:02.94. Jensen’s 2:02.95 is the No. 3 time in Class B.

Bigfork also saw Wyatt Johnson win the 110 hurdles (15.92) and got a big day from Levi Peterson, who PR’d in the long jump (20-.5, fourth in B) and won the triple jump Saturday.

Both Eureka’s Caleb Utter (12-10) and Bigfork’s Tristan Herd (12-4) inched up their season bests in the pole vault. Both are in the top six in B.

Polson’s Astin Brown won the discus with a heave of 139-10, which sits seventh in Class B.

Results, which were not available at press time Saturday, are below. Deeper lists can be found at athletic.net.
