Law roundup: Man hogs area with trailer to go shopping
A man apparently looking to buy in bulk parked a Subaru that was pulling a stainless steel trailer in a traffic lane, blocking northbound traffic, and then went into a wholesale store off U.S. 93.
A man wearing an “American flag cloak” over his head and socks pulled over his pants was allegedly outside a business acting as if he was on drugs, at least according to watchful employees. The Kalispell Police Department responded and an officer moved him along, but not before he threw his library card into the policeman’s cruiser. The officer held the card for safekeeping.
Someone allegedly asked officers to remove a man sleeping on a bench so someone could use it because they didn’t think that activity was allowed. No contact by police was needed as nothing unlawful had occurred.
Authorities received a report about a person in a dark gray car that drove around trying to break into other vehicles including a blue Mustang. Damage was found around the lock of the muscle car like someone was trying to pick it. An extra patrol was requested.
A girl was reportedly suffering harassment from her boyfriend’s ex-girlfriend and her friends who were calling her, calling her work, sending emails and posting on social media.
A man alleged he was assaulted by an off-duty officer after his girlfriend flipped him off. He claimed they followed him and his girlfriend, ripped his shirt, and threatened to grab their gun “like he was going to shoot them.” He said the individual was dressed in regular clothes, had a concealed carry and a K-9 sticker on the back of a black Ford Explorer.
A man, who had been drinking, reportedly ran around hitting a woman’s car, which he owned, shattering the back window. Medical assistance was requested for the man, who “normally gets aggressive when law enforcement is around and when he is drunk,” to check out gashes on his arms. He refused medical care.
Officers made contact with a woman who allegedly hit a man in the head multiple times. She said he was saying horrible things to her so she slapped him. He did not wish to pursue charges. She was advised to “clean up her area” of alcohol bottles and excessive property.
