Law roundup: Local man learns not to throw bombs
An aggressive man who allegedly threatened to bomb a local business’ customer care center earned a phone call to his probation and parole officer for his behavior. The Kalispell Police Department responded to the firm, where employees said the confrontation arose out of problems with the man’s nonworking phone number. Company representatives requested he be banned from the property and opted to post a security guard in the meantime. Officers also alerted the man’s probation and parole officer to his alleged threats.
Concerned about a man resting in a dumpster, a building’s operations manager phoned authorities. Officers awoke the sleeping man and moved him along.
While waiting for a package at her former digs, an ex-tenant allegedly got into a yelling match with the property manager. They told police that she refused to leave, but departed before officers arrived. Authorities checked the area and nearby apartment complexes, but were unsuccessful in tracking the woman down. They recommended the property manager call back if she returns.
Two rival contractors allegedly at loggerheads over a job nearly came to blows. One of the men told police that the other threatened to knock him out over a contract dispute.
Officers intervened between two men in Depot Park on the verge of fisticuffs. One of the men told officers that the other was stalking and threatening him, and later pulled a knife on him. Though he had asked officers for help, they noted he was foul-mouthed and confrontation with them. The other man was visibly frustrated, but at his counterpart as opposed to the police. He told officers that the other man rushed him before beginning to threaten him. He admitted pulling out a pocket knife, but said he kept it behind his back and only planned on using it for self defense. Both men were banned from the park for the day and counseled on their behavior. That led the foul-mouthed man to launch into another string of invectives while demanding the officers’ badge numbers.
Police headed to Old Reserve Drive for a report of an older man sitting in a car parked on the street with the door open. The caller expressed concern about the man’s wellbeing as his vehicle was blocking the travel lane. Arriving officers learned that the vehicle overheated and the man was waiting on a tow truck.
A teenager reported spotting an oddly-angled camera in the dressing room of an area thrift store, telling police she noticed the device while changing in and out of clothes. Officers spoke with the store’s owner, who said the cameras were down, but the angle meant the fitting room was left out of the shot. Despite this, the owner agreed it was placed poorly and moved the camera.
The manager of a local store had a man banned from the premises after he allegedly threw water at her and cursed at her.
A passerby spotted a young woman parking in a spot reserved for law enforcement vehicles and phoned the police. They told officers that the woman hopped out and headed to an area ice cream shop. Officers later issued a parking citation.
