Carol E. Patterson, 95, passed away on July 15, 2023, and was delivered into the loving arms of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. She passed away at the Lodge, the Buffalo Hill Terrace memory care unit, with her daughters by her side.

She was born on Nov. 5, 1927, to Anson G. and Ruth H. (Crandall) Fredenberg. She was the 13th of 16 children. She grew up on her family farm on Trumble Creek Road.

She attended the one-room Half Moon country school, for the early years of her education. She then went to Flathead High School graduating in 1945.

She met and later married Henry E. Patterson on Jan. 14, 1949. They were married for 57 years. They resided in Kalispell until 1955 when Henry was hired by the Great Northern Railroad. They moved to Whitefish where they raised their five daughters.

She was a stay-at-home mom but she was always busy. She loved children, especially babies, and was a favorite babysitter for family, friends, and neighbors. She was a PTA member, a room mother, volunteered at her children’s school whenever help was needed and was a Girl Scout Leader.

She was an avid reader and her daughters spent many happy hours with her reading to them. She was also an active member of St. Peter Lutheran Church in Whitefish. She taught Sunday School for many years, was a member of L.W.M.L. and helped sew hundreds of quilts for World Relief.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Henry; her parents; ten brothers and five sisters.

She is survived by her daughters, Wendy (Darrell) Howard of Whitefish, Linda (Robert) Howard of Kalispell, Nancy (John) Turner of Kalispell, Meredith (Mark) Beckedahl of Shelby and Karen (Jay) Kade of Parker, Colorado. She has 11 grandchildren, 10 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. She is also survived by four sisters-in-law; numerous nieces; and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests people can donate to the Montana Alzheimer Association at https://act.alz.org/. A celebration of life service will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 11, at Trinity Lutheran Church with a reception to follow the service and Burial at Glacier Memorial Gardens.
