Law roundup: Man takes the shortcut to parking space
A man took a shortcut through the middle of an apartment complex, driving his Ford F150 over grass and two septic tanks, to get to a parking spot. The property manager said the tenant never explained why he drove over the grass other than he took medication and was a resident. The Kalispell Police Department provided a case report number if the property manager determined the septic tanks were damaged or wanted to pursue criminal mischief charges.
A pink BMX brand bicycle with white tires and a white basket with marker drawings on it was reportedly stolen in front of an apartment.
A property manager allegedly wanted to have a white camper towed but couldn’t since there was a dog and a puppy in it, which she was concerned about after leaving a note on the vehicle and seeing the dogs were still there the next day. Officers checked on the dogs and they were OK.
A mother and her child allegedly left a playground when two men nearby, got into an altercation and one of them threw a bike at the other. The mother also complained to Kalispell Police Department that there were a lot of homeless people and kids “coming to camps” and playing music and being loud.
A passerby was ticked off because he wanted to use a particular public park bench that another man was reportedly sleeping on with a bunch of bags and junk in tow.
A police presence was requested by a subdivision development contractor because of the ongoing issue of speeders careening through the area.
Organizers of a class reunion got into a kerfuffle regarding where $4,500 in proceeds from a silent auction had been deposited as no formal contract had been drawn up as to who would control the money, where it would go and what it would be used for other than the class. The people calling in the report were told to contact a civil lawyer.
A woman called complaining about a woman hanging out in a median for several days and that “nothing was being done” about homeless people being in Depot Park from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. and hung up on dispatch without giving her name. Officers drove through the area but didn’t see anyone panhandling at the time.
A property manager told officers that tenants didn’t want a resident’s brother coming around the apartment complex anymore, claiming he was known to use meth and carry a gun. The manager complained that the brother allegedly showed up intoxicated/on drugs and was “cursing people out,” on one occasion and was currently driving around the parking lot very slowly.
Two Coleman mini-bikes were reported stolen. One is green with no headlamp and the other is red with a headlamp and a dent in the casing for a pull string.
A landlord reportedly in the process of kicking out a tenant told officers there were two cats in the apartment that weren’t being taken care of because the tenant was out of town and her rent was past due by a couple of weeks. The tenant told officers a friend was taking care of the cats. The landlord’s response was that she was a liar and they remained concerned about the cats’ welfare.
